Museveni to address the nation on covid-19

President Yoweri Museveni will today address the country on measures being taken to prevent a possible spread of coronavirus in the country.

Editor's Note:

According to the presidential press secretary, Don Wanyama, the president will address the nation at 5 pm.

His interface with the media has since been called off as a safety measure in combating the looming covid-19 pandemic.

The presidential address will thus be relayed by the presidential press unit (PPU) from the statehouse, Entebbe.

Uganda currently has no confirmed case of the pandemic but neighboring countries, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, DR Congo have confirmed cases.

The ministry of health has since been on high alert and issued a number of set safety measures to try and combat the disease among them; basic hygiene, travel advisories and restriction on public gatherings.

The President is expected to address whether schools will remain open.

Neighboring countries have since temporarily closed all schools.
